The
Bible tells us that we can know for SURE that we have eternal life.
"These things have I written unto that believe
on the name of the Son of God; that ye may
know that ye have eternal life..." I John 5:13
This is
very comforting! God wants us to know that we are going to Heaven when we die.
Do not be content with a "hope so" feeling about Heaven when God wants you to
know for sure. Also, do not be confident you are going to Heaven if you do not
know why or how. The Bible tells us that we can know, but it also tells us how
we can know.
Once
Thomas (one of Jesus' disciples) asked Jesus,
"How can we know the way?" I'm
glad Jesus had the answer! He said to Thomas in John 14:6,
"I am the way, the truth and the life: no man
cometh unto the father, but by me." So then, it is Jesus who saves
us, but why do we need to be saved?
You must
know these four things in order to know that you are going to Heaven:
1. The Bible tells us that we
are all sinners by nature and by choice.
You
may as well admit it, Romans 5:12 tells us that we inherited from
Adam a sinful nature. Romans 3:10 says, "As it is written, there is none
righteous, no, not one:" and in verse 23, "For all have sinned and come short
of the glory of God." So, the first thing you must know is that you are guilty
of sin before God and you need more than just forgiveness. You need to be saved
from your sin nature which is that part of you that seems to enjoy sinful
pleasures.
2. If we die in our sinful
condition, we will face judgment for our sins.
Romans
6:23 says, "The wages of sin is death..."
Wages are something we earn. Because of our sin, we have earned
death. Physical death is unavoidable, but the Bible speaks of Spiritual death
which is separation from God for all eternity in the lake of fire. Revelation
21:8 says that sinners, "...shall have
their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the second
death."
3. Christ came to save you
from this terrible fate!
The
Bible tells us in Romans 5:8 that, "God
commendeth [sent] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ
died for us." Jesus died to pay for your sins and the sins of the
whole world. He did this because no amount of good deeds can erase your sins.
Have you accepted His payment? Romans
6:23 also says, "the gift of
God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Because Jesus
died on the cross and paid for the sins of mankind, He alone is able to offer
forgiveness of sins. Romans 6:23 tells us that eternal life is through Jesus
Christ and He offers it as a gift. Will you accept Jesus and receive His gift?
The
Bible tells us that God created mankind. Therefore we are all God's creation,
but we are not all God's children- contrary to what the world teaches. In
order to become God's child, you must receive Jesus Christ as your savior and be
born into God's family. John 1:12 says,
"
4. You must accept Jesus
Christ into your life personally.
Romans
10:9 says, "That if thou shalt confess with
thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised
him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." And in verse 13,
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the
Lord shall be saved."
If you
have never personally asked Jesus to forgive your sin and save your soul, why
not ask Him right now? The Bible tells us in II Peter 3:9 that,
"God is not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance." God does not want anyone to
miss Heaven! Please turn to Christ. Ask Him to forgive your sins and save your
soul. He is your only hope.
"Neither is there salvation in any other:
for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be
saved." Acts 4:12
If you
are ready to accept Jesus Christ to be your Savior, call upon Him in prayer and
ask Him to save you now. All you must do is simply talk to the Lord in your own
words. Ask Him to forgive you of sin. Believe that He alone can save you.
Trust Him today!
If
you have just prayed to ask Jesus to save you, please let us know.
